Highlander's Mr M-O-Brk Chapel aka Mystro
Konrad/Fina - April 29, 2008
4 boys, 2 girls • 3 sable, 3 white • litter announcement & first pictures

"Mystro is very special to us for several reasons: He not only comes from the first ever litter of Brick Chapel Shilohs, but is also from the very first litter produced by a female shiloh who was whelped at Highlander Shilohs kennel; he is the first puppy, of many, who most resembles his grandsire, Mygic; and he is also the first white shiloh puppy that I have seen in over 10 + years who seems to have the dark pigment that is needed to exemplify a "true white". Will it remain that way? We will have to wait and see. He is still just a puppy.

At the litter evaluation, Mystro demonstrated an independent and self indulgent personality. Not a puppy for a first time shepherd owner. On our journey home, Mystro also demonstrated a fantastic set of vocals and determination. Made for a very long 8 hour drive home. He did settle down some, thank goodness, and kept his opinions to himself eventually, but reminded us of his disapproval after each "potty break" for about 10 minutes, then would fall asleep.

It didn't take long for Mystro to "rule the roost"! He immediately designated himself as the official overseer of the rest of the pack. At first it was "cute" to watch this little fur ball usher each of the "big dogs" from their crates to the back door and back again. I do have to commend the "big dogs" as they accepted his attentions and tolerated his puppy behavior.

Mystro also felt that when Marc was not in his recliner, it was his job to keep it warm till Marc returned. Mystro even seems to enjoy rocking in it.

As life would have it - had to get serious about proper behavior. Mystro has proven to be a fast learner, but a challenge as he demonstrates his independent thinking which at times has caused the threat to return him to his place of origin. "smile" But alas, when hearing this, Rhonda stays firm and reminds us that there is a "no return" clause in our agreement.

I still find two heads looking into the refrigerator or cupboards - his and mine. Mystro still has a way of running ahead and then stopping suddenly and of course - always in a hallway or tight spot so that if I am not paying attention, which is often, I trip over him. I think he does this on purpose as I can see the laughter on his face.

Mystro is very affectionate and inquisitive. His antics can be frustrating and at the same time amusing. For instance, why is it when I am trying to relax, he finds a need to bring me a toy? If I don't pay attention or tell him to go lie down, he brings me another. Before I know it, I have All his toys in my lap and at my feet. Think it is time to teach him to put them away as well.

His ears continue to be a challenge as we continue the efforts to help them develop correctly.

Mystro was chosen to be Marc's "boy" and fills that position very well. When home , Marc is Mystro's full responsibility. He needs to know where "Dad" is at all times.

We look forward to a rewarding life's journey with Mystro! Thank you Rhonda for making it possible for us to have him in our lives."

Sincerely,
Lyn and Marc Segee
